IIDA HOSTS ITS 12TH ANNUAL INDUSTRY ROUNDTABLE
IIDA convened its annual Industry Roundtable in Chicago on September 5–7. Interior design experts and manufacturing leaders
discussed issues facing all partners working in the profession of Interior Design. Facilitating the synergy between the interior design
and manufacturing communities is considered an essential role of IIDA in enhancing the future of design.

IIDA PRESENTS “GOING BEYOND GREEN” WITH 2008 SMART ENVIRONMENTS AWARD WINNERS
On Aug. 20, IIDA hosted the Webinar “Going Beyond GREEN,” sponsored by InterfaceFLOR and featuring the 2008 Smart
Environments Award Winners. The session explored the lessons that the 2008 Smart Environments Award winners can teach
about contextual sustainable design. More than 500 individuals joined IIDA for this interactive dialogue.
Holley Henderson, IIDA, LEED AP, IIDA Sustainability Forum Advisor, moderated the conversation with representatives from
award-winning design firms CORE architecture + design, NBBJ and richard+bauer. Also participating were competition
judges Collin Burry, IIDA, LEED AP, Principal, Gensler, San Francisco; Lewis J. Goetz, FIIDA, FAIA, President, Group Goetz
Architects, Washington, D.C.; and Joe Pettipas, IIDA, IDC, ASID, ISP, LEED AP, Vice President, HOK Canada.
IIDA ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE FIRST
ANNUAL GOVERNMENT DESIGN AWARDS
IIDA is pleased to announce the winners of the first
annual IIDA Government Design Awards. NeoCon
East attendees joined IIDA in honoring the winning
projects on Oct. 29 at the Baltimore Convention
Center. The awards honor outstanding government
design in the categories of: Administration Buildings;
Dormitories and Quarters; Healthcare; and Hospitality.

IIDA MENTORING WEEK 2009:
HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF DESIGN
Designers are encouraged to plan now to host a pair of students
for one day during the week of Feb. 2–6 as they
experience firsthand a day in the life of a design professional.
All designers are welcome to participate, whether currently
practicing in a firm, as an educator or with a manufacturer.

WINNER OF NEOCON EAST BOOTH DESIGN
COMPETITION ANNOUNCED
IIDA has announced the winner of the annual IIDA Booth
Design Competition at NeoCon East, a partnership with
Contract magazine. The award winner was presented with a
certificate at the show on Oct. 30.
The Creative Excellence award was presented to DIRTT
Environmental Solutions.
